1 Day Drugs / Alcohol Mental Health Awareness Training Workshop



Course Aim: 
To raise individual awareness of both licit and illicit substances, the possible affect upon mental health, highlighting the culture of experimental, recreational and problematic chemical use / dependence, including alcohol / nicotine / caffeine / natural highs / solvents / aerosols, and prescription medicines.

Course Objective: To provide a safe, informative, stimulating, inter - active forum, whereby the course participants can gain factually objective information around the psycho social aspects of the Drugs / Alcohol debate.

This training uses a state of the art, comprehensive drug box, which comprises exact replicas of the drugs you have come to this training to find out more about.



1 Day  Workshop Itinerary

* Introductions, / Contracting with delegates for individual needs, course aims / objectives:

* Ice Breaker: “Drugs Quiz” a quick questionnaire of 20 questions about drugs:

* Why do people use Drugs? Group Work:  Exploring and Exploding myths,

* Drug testing: how long in your system, a brief look at different interventions used for checking your limit:

* Legal issues surrounding Drugs:  a brief look at Drug classifications,

* Date Rape Drugs – The latest info – How do they work? – Legal status…

* What Drugs look like - A short film about drugs – a wide range of legal and illegal drugs, including Cannabis, Cocaine, Heroin, Amphetamine, Ecstasy & Solvents - what they look like, how they are prepared, and the accompanying paraphernalia including syringes, Crack pipes, and bongs:    

* Current Research: Drug trends, the new ecstasy 2Ci? - research chemicals - G.H.B. - Ketamine – Khat - young persons drug use - a pragmatic approach:

* Heroin - Crack Cocaine – Crank ( Meth ) - Amphetamine:

* Cannabis - the controversy over links to schizophrenia, research 42% says you ---- :

* Profiling and categorising Drugs into Central Nervous System Depressants, Stimulants, Hallucinogens, and how they affect feelings and behaviour:

* Classifications of Mental Illnesses: a very brief look at the 4 major types of Mental Illness, lets put things into perspective:

* Ritalin: “kid’s on speed” ---- the facts - what every parent / carer should know:
